Adoption Timeline

  • March 2005 - Mission trip to Guatemala in our first year of marriage. David and I are touched by the children we meet in the orphanage.
  • May 2007 - Attend an America World conference in Orlando while visiting my family.
  • February 2011 - The Outlive Your Life series at our church ended and began a renewed desire to adopt.
  • March 21, 2011 - We began researching agencies and countries. We had no strong leading so we began to pray that God would lead us to our child.
  • March 27, 2011 - We began a 5 week adoption class at church.
  • April 1, 2011 - God spoke to me at a Priscilla Shirer simulcast and we said "Yes" to a special needs adoption.
  • April - September 2011 - We decided America World would be our agency. Then, during this period of time, we had several phone conversations with our agency over where we would adopt.
  • September 5, 2011 - We felt confirmation from the Lord to adopt a little girl from China and we submitted our online application to America World (AWA).
  • September 14, 2011 - We were accepted to the China Program with AWA.
  • September 26, 2011 - Program Agreement Mailed to AWA along with the first payment.
  • September 28, 2011 - First Homestudy Meeting with our social worker from New Beginnings
  • October 30, 2011 - Fingerprint Appointment and Report received (fieldprint.com is Great!)
  • October 4, 2011 - Second Homestudy Meeting
  • October 8, 2011 - Final two meetings with our social worker
  • October 10, 201 1- We were assigned a Coordinator for the China Program with AWA
  • November 1, 2011 - David's physical
  • November 3, 2011 - Amy's physical
  • January 17, 2012 - Received Official Homestudy copy
  • January 20, 2012 - Mailed I-800A off to USCIS (Immigration)
  • January 25, 2012 - Officially Accepted into the Waiting Child Program for China with AWA
  • February 21, 2012 - Official  FBI Fingerprint Appointment
  • March 10, 2012 - Received USCIS Approval
  • March 12, 2012 -  Got the rest of our paperwork notarized and State Certified at the Secretary of State Office
  • March 16, 2012 -  Mailed all of our paperwork to a courier for her to bring it to the Chinese Consulate in Houston.
